RISE Receives Funds from the American Rescue Plan COVID Grant from Saratoga County

RISE Housing and Support services was one of the 177 Non-Profits Serving Saratoga County Residents to Receive a Collective $2 Million in Awards from the Saratoga County Non-Profit COVID Relief Grant Fund.

The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors created the Fund to assist community non-profits negatively affected by the pandemic to help them continue beneficial programs and projects for County residents.

Saratoga County Board of Supervisors Chair and Town of Moreau Supervisor Theodore T. Kusnierz, Jr. said, “We received an overwhelming response to our Non-Profit COVID Relief Grant Fund program from organizations providing a wide range of services to county residents. I’m pleased to report that we are providing an award to every eligible organization that applied for funding so they may continue the important work they do in our County. On behalf of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors, congratulations to each Non-Profit COVID Relief Grant Fund award recipient and thank you to each of the respective organizations for providing such valuable services to our residents.”

Grant awards range from $500 to a maximum of $50,000 with a total of $2 Million in grant monies awarded. A wide variety of organizations from around the County applied for a grant including such categories as food pantries, historical societies, education, housing, healthcare, senior services, veterans’ services, emergency
services, arts, and recreation.

The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors also reserved $100,000 specifically to assist EMT and fire departments within the County with recruitment efforts. Applications for emergency services recruitment grants will be accepted in September with awards made by the end of the year. Saratoga County is the fastest growing county in Upstate New York, and with that growth comes an increased need for first responders. In addition to the “Roll With Us” campaign launched earlier this year, these funds will allow fire departments and
EMS organizations to promote their opportunities to serve the communities.

Applications were reviewed by the Law & Finance Committee of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors with all recommended applications forwarded to the full Board for final approval at the June 21, 2022, Saratoga County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Selected recipients are non-profit organizations that currently operate within the County and have clearly identified a tangible benefit to the residents of Saratoga County and incurred losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
