It Takes a Village to Grow a Garden!

RISE would like to give a huge thank you to Agway True Value of Ballston Spa for their continued support of the Hedgerow House Garden. Every year Agway True Value donates a flat of vegetables and flowers to help get the garden started. “We are so grateful for their contributions to the garden each year,” says Julianne Thomas, Hedgerow House Director, ” We greatly appreciate their generosity.”

The garden is a big part of recovery at Hedgerow House. Working in the garden is therapeutic for individuals in recovery. It also provides a sense of accomplishment and self-wroth for the residents who work in the garden.

“We started a gardening club here at Hedgerow House,” says Patrick, a Hedgerow House resident. “The garden beds donated and we started all vegetables, fruits. We go through produce like crazy, so it is nice that the residents are able to grow them ourselves.

I really like the landscaping. It gets me out of the house and get some exercise. It is a good way to sty busy and focused on my recovery.”

Agway True Value of Ballston Spa is locally owned and operated by the Wallace Family. They have been in the Ballston Spa community for 100 years! RISE appreciates their contributions and support of our programs.
