RISE would like to thank everyone involved with the Development of the Riverview Apartments at Corinth. We’d also like to thank everyone who attended and spoke at our ribbon cutting ceremony, held on Thursday, August, 22, 2024, in celebration of Riverview’s official opening!

Thank you to NYS Homes and Community Renewal, and the NYS Office of Mental Health for being incredible partners as always. And a huge thank you to the Hudson River Community Credit Union for donating the property on which Riverview now stands. We look forward to our continued collaboration.”
Senator Jim Tedisco presented RISE with a New York State Senate Citation in celebration of the Grand Opening of the Riverview Apartments at Corinth. “This is a beautiful facility,” said the Senator. “We thank everyone involved. This takes a team and all those members of the team all heroes: RISE, its leadership and staff, the donors, and the elected officials. You are all heroes in that you’ve turned it around for a lot of people who face some severe challenges. You’ve worked to remove the obstacles that are are before them so they can be everything they can be. When you build wonderful facilities like this, you’ve given them a big part of the American dream – a home.”
“Supportive housing enables people living with mental illness to be successful on their path to recovery. The 30 supportive units in Riverview Apartments will provide safe and stable housing with services to help the residents live and thrive independently in their own community. A couple of years ago I went to an opening, and a middle aged man came up to me, and he was showing us his apartment, and he was very proud of how he had decorated it, and the new space he was in, and it was a new opening, and he showed me a key. And he said, this is the first time I’ve ever had my own key. This is my independence. This is my empowerment. This is my future.
Congratulations and many thanks to RISE Housing & Support Services and to all our partners in creating this beautiful new home and you’re going to be giving out 60 keys to individuals so that they can have that wonderful future,” said Commissioner Anne Sullivan, NYS Office of Mental Health.
“Congratulations on this gorgeous complex. I want to say hello to everybody and thank Commissioner Sullivan for her remarks. Assemblymember Simpson, Senator Tedisco and our other elected representatives here who are partners with RISE, congratulations to you. Thank you to CSD and to Hudson River Community Credit Union on a very generous land donation which enabled this building to come to fruition,” said Alexa Sewell who spoke on behalf of Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, NYS Homes & Community Renewal.
“The addition of 60 new housing units to Corinth is incredible. With these units providing viable housing that alleviate affordability challenges as well as affording quality living opportunities to seniors and those searching for supportive options, the community is sure to be well served and have many needs met. While we have more work to do to address housing affordability challenges at large, this is a huge step forward for the area. I thank Hudson River Community Credit Union for their generosity donating the land and extend my sincere gratitude to state and local stakeholders who made this project become a reality,” said Assembly Member Matthew Simpson.
“The new Riverview Apartments, in the Village of Corinth are completed. It is a beautiful facility. The process is underway to select the occupants of the 60 units. This facility will afford local people in need of low-income housing, senior citizens on fixed incomes and individuals with mental health illnesses the opportunity to live in a nice, safe facility. This is surely needed in the Village and Town of Corinth.” said Village of Corinth Mayor Terry Miller.
“National Grid supports the State’s energy goals and is proud to be a part of the Clean Heat rebate program. National Grid was able to provide more than $200,000 in incentives for the Riverview Apartment project that will save more than 2,100 MMbtu of natural gas and 43,000 kWh of electricity,” said National Grid Regional Executive Kim Ireland.
“CSD acted as the development consultant on the project, working with RISE, one of our favorite non profits, to build this amazing building. I get the pleasure of introducing the full development team. As the mayor said, it takes a whole lot of people to get this done. First, first and foremost, I want to really say what an amazing accomplishment for RISE. A big thank you to Bonacio Construction for going above and beyond throughout the entire process. Thank you to Re4orm Architecture for the great job on designing this and bringing a great concept to life. Also thank you to Lansing Engineering, Aztech Geothermal, Sustainable Comfort, CGMR Compliance Partners, and Barclay Damon.
There is a tremendous amount of funding needed to get these projects off the ground. So we are very thankful to NYS Homes and Community Renewal for the tax credits and subsidy loans that were that were granted to the project. Obviously very thankful to the NYS Office of Mental Health and their continued support. We also have a tax credit investor, CREA. We’d also like to thank Citizens Bank who was the construction lender for the project. We ran into a funding gap, and the Federal Home Loan Bank really stepped in and saved us. And lastly, Hudson River Community Credit Union for the generous land donation,” said Keri Curtis, CSD Housing.
“As Saratoga County’s economy continues to grow, we need to build more affordable housing so more people can live and work within our local communities, and that is why we are so appreciative of Governor Hochul’s leadership to support organizations like RISE as they look to build projects like this. We believe every ribbon cutting that the Saratoga County Chamber hosts is the celebration of a dream come true, and this project’s completion means that the dreams of more than 60 families will come true as they move into a new home at the Riverview Apartments. Kudos to everyone at the state, county, and local level that played a role in making this day and this project possible.” said Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce President Todd Shimkus.
“It’s a dream come true for our community. The Credit Union’s primary mission is to improve the quality of life for everybody in the communities that they live in. When my board talked about donating the land for the project and we met with Sybil and discovered they were envisioning this beautiful place – for people who needed help, for the seniors and for people who couldn’t afford a nice place to live, to have a beautiful place to call home that is safe and stable, we were impressed. To see it come to fruition is an amazing thing. I want to thank everybody because this project is going to change lives,” said Sue Commanda, Hudson River Community Credit Union.
“It wasn’t that long ago that we were here breaking ground, and to be ready to welcome our residents next week is just incredible to us. Half of the apartments at Riverview are supportive apartments for people who, for mental health reasons, have had difficulty managing to stay stable in the community without support. The other half are affordable for the general population, with 15 of those units being designated for people 55 and older. I’m excited to see this place become a home for so many people and for it to become part of the landscape of this community.
We opened a similar building in Ballston Spa last year; Dominic Hollow where 18 of the 60 apartments are designated as permanent supportive housing. I’m pleased to report that 16 of the original 18 individuals who moved into those supportive apartments last April are still living happily in their apartments. Dominic Hollow is proof that the Housing First model works – our supportive housing program at Dominic Hollow follows the Housing First model. When you provide affordable, safe, supportive housing, it allows people the security and the stability to make improvements in all the other areas of their lives.
We look forward to replicating that success here at the Riverview,” said Sybil Newell, RISE Executive Director.
