Summer Time Fun!

Summer time is a great time for our residential program to enjoy recreational activities – an integral part of the services RISE provides. Participation in recreation activities can reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Participation in group recreation provides a sense of value, belonging and attachment and give our residents something to look forward – which can work wonders for both their bodies and their minds.

Edgewood House and Rain House – Great Escape

Staff and residents from Rain House and Edgewood enjoyed some summer time fun at the Great Escape! Recreational activities are an important part of the services RISE provides in assisting individuals in maintaining positive mental health.

Hedgerow House – Garden

Hedgerow House residents plated the garden with the help of Cathy Ryfa, from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardner Program. The residents continue to tend the garden and use the fresh herbs and vegetables to cook healthy, nutritious meals.

Rain House – Paint and Chat

At Rain House, residents enjoyed a fun and colorful “Paint and Chat” activity. Providing creative activities for our residents is an important way for us to help them to build self-esteem and maintain a positive outlook!

Milestone Manor – Bowling

Milestone Manor residents had a fun afternoon socializing with each other while bowling. Recreational activities are a great way for the individuals in our programs to develop and improve their social skills.
