Community Residence Cook

RISE Housing and Support Services has an opportunity for a confident, dedicated, and compassionate individual to support the dietary needs of our residents.  A successful candidate will be able to support the meal preparation needs of our program that serves individuals recovering from a substance use diagnoses.

RISE offers a Cook:

  • A rate of $20 per hour
  • $1500 bonus after 6 months of employment

Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Order, maintain and organize inventory of food items and supplies
  • Prepare and serve group meals, utilize leftovers and properly store food items
  • Create and follow a food daily schedule
  • Participate in menu review and revisions
  • Maintain sanitary workstations and keep a clean kitchen
  • Comply with regulatory requirements of food service
  • Ensure resident dietary restrictions are adhered to
  • Support the meal needs in other programs as needed

 To qualify you must have:

  • A high school education or GED
  • Experience cooking in a food service role
  • Experience working with sensitive populations is a plus
  • An ability to operate independently, think on your feet, and follow your training
  • Strong interpersonal boundaries
  • Our shared belief system in areas such as respect, empathy, and inclusion
  • Clearance with all relevant background checks as per RISE policies and governing regulations
  • A valid NY State Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the RISE automotive program desired
