Shelter Supervisor

RISE Housing and Support Services has an opportunity for an experienced, empathetic, and organized leader to join our outreach and advocacy team and manage the day to day operations of our low barrier shelter. A successful candidate will be able to inspire staff to help our program participants manage the life challenges their housing situation, mental health and/or substance use diagnoses have presented, while maintaining a healthy, safe, and therapeutic environment.

RISE offers a Shelter Supervisor:

  • A rate of $21 per hour
  • $1500 bonus after 6 months of employment

Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the assessment of participants’ needs and their connection to community resources
  • Managing the day to day operations of RISE’s low barrier shelter
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive environment
  • Managing escalated and crisis situations and utilizing community resources as appropriate
  • Supervising program staff
  • Modeling positive and appropriate behaviors for staff and participants
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures

To qualify you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in human services field
  • Two years of experience providing direct support to individuals experiencing homelessness and/or mental health or substance use diagnoses
  • 1+ years of leadership experience
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • An ability to operate independently, think on your feet, and follow your training
  • Excellent crisis management and dispute resolution skills
  • Strong interpersonal boundaries

  • Successful completion of RISE background checks, a valid driver’s license and a driving history acceptable to the RISE automobile policy
