Rhonda was a resident at SunRISe Retreat Intensive Crisis Residence who shares her appreciation for the help she received from the very kind and caring staff.
I am a newly recovering addict with mental health, domestic violence, and sexual abuse issues. I have trust issues and I did not think I would make it as far as I did. Honestly, I almost didn’t. The reason I reached all my goals here at RISE Above Intensive Crisis Residence – and even started liking myself again – was because of everyone here. Not one person that works here will give up on you. They are a rock-solid team, and they really care about each of us. They go above and beyond to help us get to our next step.
The staff does everything they say they are going to do. Nothing is ever swept under the rug. I have never been around so many wonderful people in one place in my life. The nurses are amazing people who deal with so many different individuals but do their job with pride and kindness. The social workers do an amazing job with everything from just talking to us to finding us resources: doctors, homes, recovery programs, and anything else we might need.
The three Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs) are the biggest champions. They are just people who have once been right where we are at some point in their lives and decided to give back. They amaze me with the amount of love they share with us. I wanted to say a special thank you to James, one of the CRPAs. Thank you for never giving up on me. You inspire me to be a better person. Some day I hope to follow in your footsteps.
Then you have the two beautiful nurses in the front office, Patrisha and Jackie. These two ladies make this place all that it is. In my eyes, they do all the hard work that bring this program form a house for people to stay into a home for individuals to grow. Jackie, I want you to know you are my hero! You are a super star! Without you, this place would not be what it is. You help so many people, and we are all better because of it.
I never thought I would have come this far, but I am leaving here with 99 days sobriety, a new place to live, and I continue my growth in my recovery. My mental health is in check, and I know I have a team of people that I can always count on. I would, and will, tell everyone I know that SunRISE Retreat is an amazing place.
