C.R.E.A.T.E. Studious recently installed an exhibition of artwork made by individuals receiving RISE Care Management services or living in RISE Supportive Housing. You can see the RISE TO C.R.E.A.T.E. show in the Saratoga Springs City Mayor’s office through mid November.
C.R.E.A.T.E. and RISE embarked on a partnership in Spring of 2024 to bring the expressive and therapeutic arts to RISE clients in their Residential settings and in C.R.E.A.T.E. ‘s Beekman Street Studio space. Individuals receiving services through RISE have been invited to participate in therapeutic art-making workshops to support their recovery journey and overall mental wellness as they navigate crises and transitions in life. Providing supportive programming for those who are most vulnerable in our community is at the heart of C.R.E.A.T.E.’s mission to provide expressive arts to ALL.
Co-founder and Saratoga Site Director Julie Lewis said, “The expressive arts are an integral part of trauma recovery, providing clients with a creative outlet to explore and express their emotions, memories, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.”
Jenna Kawola is a licensed Creative Arts Therapist who provides expressive art making sessions with RISE clients. Kawola shared that clients say they look forward to coming to this group. “It helps to calm me and practice my self expression,” said one Rise participant. Another attendee shared “It helps to get my spiraling thoughts out on the paper through the art.”
